Apple has released the third beta version of the watchOS 5 to the developers, right after 2 weeks of the second beta and a month after the introduction of the software at the Worldwide Developers Conference.
The beta is only available to the developers, since it is an early version of the software and may have some bugs. To install the beta, one needs to have a proper configuration profile that can be obtained from the Apple Developer Center. After the profile is set, the watchOS 5 beta can be downloaded from the Apple Watch app on the iPhone, by selecting the Software Update from the General menu.
To update the software, it is recommended that, the Apple watch has 50% battery or placed on an Apple watch charger and should be available in the range of iPhone. It is also recommended to install the update on a secondary device instead of a primary device the software may still have bugs that needs to be corrected.
WatchOS 5 is a major update introducing new features like Activity Competition to compete with friends in workout, A Walkie-Talkie with push to talk functionality to frequently communicate with people and auto workout detection.
Other features include an improvised Siri watch face with the inclusion to support third party apps, a dedicated Apple podcast app, addition of different new workout types which includes Yoga and Hiking, WebKit support to enable viewing web content on the watch and enhanced notification system which makes the Apple watch more interactive.
The watchOS 5 will not be available to public beta testers, the beta testers have to wait until the official release to try the new watchOS 5. The watchOS will be available for models Series 1, Series 2 and Series 3 except for Series 0.
In the new beta, the “Raise to Speak” feature is now in operational. The Raise to Speak option must be enabled in the General–>Siri menu. The will enable to talk to Siri using the watch without saying “Hey Siri”.
