iPhone X was the first product launched by Apple with OLED display. However, if the ongoing media reports are to be believed, then the tech giant might have already started working on the next level display technology to be included int he future generations of iPhone.

The kind of trends we have been seeing online lately, have suggested two things. However, the optimistic side of the story lets us believe that Apple might just be working on something even more revolutionary than the display used in its latest iPhone X.

Earlier this year, the company had revealed that it has deployed an R&D team in Taiwan to work on microLED displays. MicroLED displays offer some of the key advancements of OLED displays, along with offering better brightness, color performance, and power efficiency. However, some recent reports stated that the company was planning to cut-down on its R&D team in Taiwan and was thinking to stick with the OLED displays for next few years.

A little bit of digging further into the matter revealed some results, which could be so exciting for the Apple fans. According to our research, Apple has cut-down on the team in Taiwan because the team has completed the work and the next phase of R&D will be shifted to Apple headquarters in California, US. This means that the company is still in line to launch the new screen technology in its products in 2018 or 2019.

To develop the microLED displays, Apple is reportedly working with TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company).
