Ashoka University is a private, nonprofit liberal arts university established in 2014, offering undergraduate and graduate programs across the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences on its 25-acre campus. The university is named after Emperor Ashoka (c. 304 – 232 BC) who represents India’s highest values and ideals of liberal thought and education. Ashoka University aims to help students become well-rounded individuals who can think critically about issues from multiple perspectives, communicate effectively, and become leaders with a commitment to public service.

Ashoka University’s undergraduate program offers an interdisciplinary liberal arts and sciences education that focuses on academic research and intellectual growth. Students are not expected to declare their major until the middle of the second year, giving them plenty of time to explore various possibilities and discover their passions. Students can choose from a total of 12 pure or 9 interdisciplinary majors, 21 minors, and 19 concentrations.

They also have to take 9 foundation courses and 2 co-curricular courses that expose them to diverse areas of knowledge and skills. Ashoka University also offers graduate programs such as the Young India Fellowship (YIF), a one-year multidisciplinary diploma program in Liberal Studies, MA in Economics, MA in English, MA in Liberal Studies, and PhD programs in 9 disciplines.

Ashoka University practices a holistic approach of assessment in its undergraduate, graduate, YIF, and PhD programs. The admission process evaluates each applicant’s fit to the program in light of their context and allows them to present their unique identity through every stage of the process. Offers of admission are made to deserving candidates based on their overall performance in the application and admission processes. All decisions taken by the admission committee are final and will be communicated with the applicant by the deadlines set for each program.

Ashoka University UG Admission 2023 is ongoing for session 2023, the last date to apply is 04 August 2023. Students can fill out the application form through the official portal of Ashoka University. Various courses like BSc, BSc (Hons) BCom, BBA, BA, BCA, etc are available for admission.

Ashoka University UG Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for admission to Ashoka University’s undergraduate program, candidates must have:

• Completed 10+2 or equivalent from any recognized board with a minimum of 50% marks
• Appeared for either SAT or ACT or Ashoka Aptitude Test (AAT) or have their final class XII board scores
• Submitted a personal essay and a letter of recommendation along with the application form
• Appeared for a personal interview if shortlisted

Ashoka University PG Admission

Ashoka University offers three types of postgraduate programs at present. The first is the Young India Fellowship (YIF), a one-year multidisciplinary diploma program in Liberal Studies. Fellows then have the option to pursue their Masters in Liberal Studies (MLS) after graduating from the YIF.

Fellows who have been accepted by an Ashoka University faculty mentor to work on a research project can also opt for an MPhil degree instead of MLS. The other two postgraduate programs are MA in Economics and MA in English.

To be eligible for admission to Ashoka University’s postgraduate programs, candidates must have:

• Completed an undergraduate degree or equivalent from any recognized university with a minimum of 50% marks.
• Appeared for either GRE or GMAT or have their final undergraduate scores.
• Submitted a statement of purpose and two letters of recommendation along with the application form.
• Appeared for a personal interview if shortlisted.
