iOS 17.4 Brings New Features for Apple Card Users and Budget Apps

Apple has released iOS 17.4, the latest version of its mobile operating system, with several new features and improvements for Apple Card users and budget apps. The update allows third-party budget apps to access real-time Apple Card transaction information, as well as adding support for Apple Savings and Apple Cash accounts. Here are some of the highlights of iOS 17.4 for Apple Card users and budget apps.

Real-Time Apple Card Transaction Info

One of the most notable features of iOS 17.4 is the ability for third-party budget apps to read real-time Apple Card transaction information. This means that Apple Card users who want to track their spending and manage their finances with budget apps will have more options and flexibility to do so. Previously, only Mint, a popular budget app owned by Intuit, had access to Apple Card transaction data. However, Mint was folded into Credit Karma, another Intuit service, at the beginning of the year, leaving some Apple Card users without a way to track their transactions with a budget app.

With iOS 17.4, Apple has opened up Apple Card transaction data to other third-party budget apps, such as Monarch and Copilot. These apps can now sync with Apple Card and display the transaction details, such as the amount, date, time, merchant name, and category. This can help Apple Card users to monitor their spending habits, set budgets, and achieve their financial goals.

Apple Savings and Apple Cash Accounts

Another feature of iOS 17.4 is the support for Apple Savings and Apple Cash accounts in third-party budget apps. Apple Savings is a new service that Apple launched in 2023, which allows Apple Card users to earn interest on their balance and transfer money to and from their bank accounts. Apple Cash is a pre-paid card that lets users send and receive money via Apple Pay, as well as pay off their Apple Card or spend money online.

With iOS 17.4, third-party budget apps can now access Apple Savings and Apple Cash accounts, along with Apple Card, and display them as separate accounts. This can help users to see their overall financial situation, as well as track their income and expenses across different accounts. Users can also manage their Apple Savings and Apple Cash accounts from within the budget apps, such as transferring money, making deposits, or withdrawing funds.

Other Improvements and Bug Fixes

iOS 17.4 also brings some other improvements and bug fixes for Apple Card users and budget apps, such as:

  • Enhanced security and privacy for Apple Card transactions, with end-to-end encryption and biometric authentication.
  • Improved user interface and design for Apple Card, Apple Savings, and Apple Cash accounts in the Wallet app and the budget apps.
  • Fixed an issue where some Apple Card transactions were not categorized correctly or displayed with incorrect merchant names.
  • Fixed an issue where some budget apps were not able to sync with Apple Card, Apple Savings, or Apple Cash accounts.
  • Fixed an issue where some budget apps were not able to display the Apple Card transaction details in the local currency or time zone.

iOS 17.4 is available as a free update for all compatible iPhone models. Users can update their devices by going to Settings > General > Software Update. Apple Card users and budget app users are advised to update their devices to enjoy the new features and improvements.
